Where is the serial number located on my reel?
The serial number for Tibor, Tibor QC (now discontinued) and Billy Pate reels is located on the top of the reel frame next to the reel stand. The serial number for the Tibor Signature Series and Tibor Spey (now discontinued) is located UNDER the nameplate at the top of the reel frame next to the reel stand. The serial number generally consists of a letter and two or three numbers (ex. C456). On some older model Billy Pate reels, the serial number may be on the face of the reel and may only be two or three numbers. Please note: Tibor Light reels do not have serial numbers.

How do I get my nameplate engraved - and is it really free?
Complimentary nameplate engraving is available for new Tibor and Tibor Signature reels. You can order your nameplate already engraved on your new reel from your dealer, or you can send in the nameplate with your completed warranty registration and nameplate card. Replacement nameplates may be purchased in our online store or through your local Tibor dealer.
How do I get replacement parts for my reel?
How do I lubricate my reel?
For Tibor, Tibor QC, Tibor Spey, Tibor Signature and Billy Pate reels, the cork drag should be lubricated only with Tibor Graphite Lube. Please note: we do not recommend Neet's Foot Oil for our Tibor and Billy Pate reels as it can cause the cork to dry out over time. For Tibor Light CL reels, the ConstaLube felt should be lubricated periodically with a few drops of Tibor Lube. Tibor Graphite Lube and Tibor Lube may be purchased in our new online store or from any authorized Tibor dealer.
Can I buy a SpeedHandle separately?
No. The SpeedHandle replaces the counterweight on the spool and must be factory installed. Also, a SpeedHandle cannot be installed after you purchase a reel because of the machining we need to do to make it fit. You can either order the reel with the Speedhandle included as an option or purchase a new spool with the Speedhandle as an option.
How does the incoming/outgoing signal work?
All Tibor and Billy Pate reels feature incoming signals and triple outgoing line signals. The incoming signal is created by the contact between the clutch dogs and the drag plate and is permanent. The outgoing line signal is created by the three clicker pins on the drag plate. The outgoing signal cannot be increased but can be silenced by removing the clicker pins. Please note that the outgoing signal is not as pronounced as the incoming signal. On newer reels, the sound may be muted but will increase as the reel is used.
What is your return and exchange policy ?
Returns and exchanges must be made through the dealer from whom the reel was purchased, within 60 days of purchase, at the dealer's discretion. No returns or exchanges can be accepted for custom engraved or game fish engraved reels.
Can I interchange my original Tibor Light spool with a new Tibor Light CL spool?
The spools for the original Tibor Light Tail Water and Back Country Wide reels are interchangeable with the new Tail Water CL and Back Country Wide CL spools. However, the Spring Creek CL is larger than the original Spring Creek, and these spools are not interchangeable.
How can I get a game fish engraving for my reel?
Our exclusive series of Game Fish Engravings is available by special request on NEW reel orders only for an additional $55.00. The reason for this requirement is because all reel parts that are engraved must be completely free of oils and dirt before they go into our very sensitive laser engraver programmed for our anodizing tolerances. Once a reel is assembled, the parts are never as pristine again. The only exception is the nameplate because that particular part is done in a different engraving machine. Please keep the Game Fish Series in mind should you purchase new reels in the future. Your dealer will be happy to help you.
How can I get a custom engraving for my reel?
Billy Pate and Tibor Light reels do not have nameplates, but NEW reel orders can be custom engraved with your name or other text inscription for an additional charge of $75.00. Custom engraving of logos and other artwork is also available on all new reel orders as well for an additional charge of $160.00. Please consult your authorized Tibor dealer for more information.
