Where is the serial number located on my reel?
The serial number for Tibor, Tibor QC (now discontinued) and Billy Pate reels is located on the top of the reel frame next to the reel stand. The serial number for the Tibor Signature Series and Tibor Spey (now discontinued) is located UNDER the nameplate at the top of the reel frame next to the reel stand. The serial number generally consists of a letter and two or three numbers (ex. C456). On some older model Billy Pate reels, the serial number may be on the face of the reel and may only be two or three numbers. Please note: Tibor Light reels do not have serial numbers.

How do I lubricate my reel?
For Tibor, Tibor QC, Tibor Spey, Tibor Signature and Billy Pate reels, the cork drag should be lubricated only with Tibor Graphite Lube. Please note: we do not recommend Neet’s Foot Oil for our Tibor and Billy Pate reels as it can cause the cork to dry out over time. For Tibor Light CL reels & The Signature Reels, the ConstaLube felt should be lubricated periodically with a few drops of Tibor Lube. We also now have the All Purpose Grease which is recommended for all Tibor moving parts with the exception of the Cork Drag, Signature Seal and the ConstaLube system for the Tibor Lights. Tibor Graphite Lube, Tibor Lube & now the All Purpose Grease may be purchased directly from the TiborStore or from any authorized Tibor Dealer.
Can I re-finish my reel?
Sorry, but this cannot be done. Think of refinishing a wood floor. Once it’s scraped and polished, the floor becomes thin. This is the same thing for our Aluminum reels and spools. Think of your scraped, scratched reels as “war wounds” from all your fun fishing trips.
Stripping line against the frame
Stripping line against the frame will eventually wear a groove into any light metal frame (in our case, aluminum) as well as ruin your backing and fly line media. This is not covered under warranty and you will need to purchase a new frame assembly. https://www.tiborreel.com/warranty
How does the incoming/outgoing signal work?
All Tibor and Billy Pate reels feature incoming signals and triple outgoing line signals. The incoming signal is created by the contact between the clutch dogs and the drag plate and is permanent. The outgoing line signal is created by the three clicker pins on the drag plate. The outgoing signal cannot be increased but can be silenced by removing the clicker pins. Please note that the outgoing signal is not as pronounced as the incoming signal. On newer reels, the sound may be muted but will increase as the reel is used.
